Management Team

Jonathan Naimon, Founder & Managing Partner
Mr. Naimon is the founder & managing partner of Light Green Advisors (LGA), the first US asset manager to specialize in the best-of-class approach to environmental sustainability investing. LGA manages equity mandates for institutional investors, and has also developed environmental products for sponsors of structured products, indices, the Claymore Green ETF and trusts in USA and Europe.

LGA was also the founding financial advisor to SunEdison (now part of MEMC), one of the leading investors in solar assets worldwide. Prior to founding LGA, Jonathan was a visiting professor at the Carnegie Mellon & the Norwegian School of Management. Jonathan also led the Investor Responsibility Research Center (now part of MSCI) corporate environmental assessment program, which undertook some of the first statistical studies linking environmental performance with both stock market and accounting returns.

Mr. Naimon previously held technical and policy positions with Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Combustion Engineering, ICF International, and the Energy & Commerce Committee of the US House of Representatives..

He has degrees in Environmental Management from the University of North Carolina and Biology and Cognitive Science from MIT. Mr. Naimon currently serves as an advisor to Renewtricity, a developer of utility scale solar farms in the US and Sinova Partners, a private equity firm active in the transfer of best-of-class clean technologies to Asian markets.

John L. Cusack is a managing director and serves as chief sustainability officer for LGA. Mr. Cusack brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as president of Gifford Park Associates, a US-based management firm with 20 years of experience in the environmental finance, energy, environmental technology and risk management areas. Mr. Cusack was previously CEO of Innovest, a director of the World Environment Center, and has held senior positions with Asea Brown Boveri, and several environmental technology companies.

Mark Sten is a co-founder and a member of the Investment Committee at LGA.  Prior to joining LGA, Mr. Sten was a senior partner at as DDB Needham, a global public affairs firm, and the Hartman Group, a leading business consultancy for the healthy living and organic foods industries.  He has also held executive positions at Raytheon, Computron, and Wang Laboratories. Mr. Sten taught the US’s first MBA course on business strategy and the environment at the University of California at Irvine School of Management in 1990. He has an MA in Communications from the University of Southern California and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business.

Eric Bell is Chief Information Officer and has worked for Light Green Advisors since its inception. Mr. Bell is responsible for algorithm enhancement, management of LGA’s proprietary software tools and integration of outside data sources with these tools, trading system interfaces, and enterprise information technology. Mr. Bell has over 20 years of programming and data analysis experience and has held senior technical positions with ATT Wireless and the University of Washington. Mr. Bell has an MBA and a Mathematics degree from the University of Washington.

Advisory Board

LGA freely draws upon the information and wisdom of its advisory panel members, several of whom have been affiliated with the firm or its founders since before its inception in 1998.

Glenn Anderson is a senior vice president with EFG Investment Bank, the Swedish subsidiary of the Swiss EFG Bank Group. Mr. Anderson has previously held marketing, trading, futures, and derivatives positions with Investment Banking Partners, Den Norske Credit Bank, Boliden, Conti Commodity and Merrill in Stockholm, Hamburg, and New York.

Albert de Haan is the CEO of Carbon Rooster BV, a sustainable and clean energy finance specialist based in the Netherlands. Carbon Rooster invests in sustainable development companies and works with organizations active in developing, financing, and managing risks associated with clean energy projects globally including the United Group, the Hong Kong stock exchange, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and UNESCO.

Mr. de Haan is a co-founder of the European Climate Exchange (ECX), where he was Commercial Director from 2004-2008. ECX is the largest unit of Climate Exchange PLC, an AIM-listed company that was recently acquired by InterContinental Exchange.

Prior to co-founding the European Climate Exchange, Mr. de Haan started the Fortis Carbon Banking unit. Mr. deHaan previously held currency and interest rate trading positions with several Dutch banks.

Mr. de Haan serves on the advisory bosards of Hydroring Capital BV and Light Green Advisors.

Dan Grimm is a senior Vice President for Doughty Hanson PLC (a UK-based private equity firm) and was formerly the Washington state treasurer.

J. Michael McCloskey is a director of the Sierra Club Foundation and is chairman emeritus of the Sierra Club. He was formerly its executive director and chairman.

Jack Jolley, Senior Strategic Advisor Prior to joining LGA, Jack was a cofounder of Quellos, an alternative asset management firm based in Seattle that was acquired by Blackrock in 2007. Mr. Jolley has held fixed income trading and management positions at several leading Wall Street firms and served as treasurer of Microsoft in the 1990s. Jack is an avid runner, cyclist, and swimmer, and has a degree in business Administration from the University of Washington. He is also a senior fixed income advisor to Filament, a wealth management firm.
